Can you believe it is already May? To me, it feels like there has never been a faster year. I wonder if everything just seems to be speeded up because last year moved so slowly. Today I am joining Anne from Anne In Residence for her monthly Currently series where we all share things we are currently doing in five different categories.
Consuming: Lately I’ve been on the hunt for swimsuits. I was excited to try the new Everlane suits but they sold out quickly in my size. I did order this one, but it didn’t fit quite right. So now I’ve turned to Garnet Hill and I have this one and this one on order. I’m also working on a little redo for the bedroom. Encouraged by a 20% off sale, I am trying these trendy Brook LInen sheets.
Exploring: I spent a week in Pittsburgh recently for work. While I was there I had two little adventures. I went for a long walk in the lovely North Park. I also spent some time browsing in a little independent bookstore called Riverstone Books. Of course, I couldn’t leave empty handed so I bought Dutch House by Anne Patchett and a book of poetry by Rupi Kaur.
Getting: I think I’m getting more fit. I’ve gone back to exercising as soon as I wake up and as always I don’t know why I ever try to do it any other way. You can read about my new walking routine with my Fit Bit Versa 2 here but now I’ve taken it up a notch with some power walking and jogging. Also, I discovered the FitBit Coach app which has so many workouts and allows you to choose a preferred workout plan. I chose the Daily Dose which assigns me a short 15 minute or less workout each day. I love it so far and I feel so much better.
Hoping: On a personal level I’ve had a lot of clarity lately around what I want, my goals, my boundaries and I’m hoping it continues. In the grand scheme of things, I’m hoping the pandemic soon subsides to manageable levels around the world. And in the mundane I’m hoping I can find someone to pull the weeds and mulch the garden so I don’t have to do it.
Seeing: This month I am seeing my daughter and grandsons for the first time in over a year. The anticipation feels so sweet. Just having something like this to look forward to feels like such a blessing after last year. We are meeting halfway for a short camping trip. None of us have camped with a toddler and a preschooler before, so wish us all the luck.
This has been such a fun way to consider what I’ve been up to. What are you doing currently?

Enjoy that reunion on Mother’s Day! Sounds like an adventure and a fun place to get in some pretty walks. Have a good day!
Thank you so much!
I need to change up my routine so that I can get exercise first thing in the morning. Otherwise it won’t happen. I am going to look into that FitBit Coach app and your post on the Versa. I LOVE my FitBit ๐
Future me is always so happy when I exercise first thing. It’s just so easy to get off track. I LOVE my Fitbit too!
I do want to get a new swimsuit this year as well. I hope you find a good fit soon!
Yay for seeing family after so long. I’m sure you are definitely anticipating that.

Thank you Lauren. And why is it so hard to find swimsuits? It should be easier!
I was very tempted by that Brooklinen sale myself…especially after I discovered a rip in my sheet in the middle of the night last week, ha! Getting to visit a new bookstore is one of my favorite things about travel – it’s been way too long! Great book picks too.
Thanks for joining in ๐
Thank you for a very creative link up. I’m testing out those sheets tonight. I’ll report back.
I’m so happy for your little family reunion! This year has been a struggle in so many ways. My Dad lives in Florida and we haven’t seen him since November 2019. I think he’s coming up here next month.
I so hope you Dad gets to make a visit. Facetime and Zoom can be a great alternative, but they sometimes just don’t work as well with older adults and young children.
Oh I am so glad that you will see your grandkids soon. My son just saw my mother for the first time in a year and it was amazing for all of us. So many tears for the adults and then joy at being together. ๐
Thank you so much. I am so excited to see them!
Oh, swimsuit shopping is always painful. Good luck with finding a good, flattering one., I absolutely love Pittsburgh. Next time I am there, I will check out Riverstone Books. Thanks for the tip. Have a wonderful time with your daughter and grandsons.
Hooray for getting fit – and feeling it! I’m hoping I can say much more of the same here soon!!
